Key Features
1. Horizontal Glass Assembly
The OPX-222 features a horizontal glass distillation assembly, allowing convenient observation of the distillation process and easy access for routine cleaning and maintenance.
2. Silica / Quartz Heater
A silica (quartz) heater provides the heat required for water evaporation. The heater is designed to provide uniform heating across the water during the distillation process.
3. Borosilicate Glass Construction
The distillation assembly is manufactured from high-quality borosilicate glass, providing:
- Good chemical resistance
- Thermal resistance
- Durability
- Clear visibility of the distillation process
- Convenient cleaning
4. Screw-Cap Connectors
The screw-cap connector design allows the glass assembly to be conveniently opened or dismantled for:
- Cleaning
- Inspection
- Maintenance
- Removal of mineral deposits
5. Low-Water Cut-Off
The integrated low-water cut-off device provides an important safety function by helping prevent continued heater operation when the available water level becomes too low.
6. High-Purity Distilled Water
The distillation process separates water from many dissolved salts, minerals, and other non-volatile impurities, producing high-quality distilled water for laboratory applications.
Working Principle
The OPX-222 Water Still operates on the principle of evaporation and condensation.
- Feed water enters the boiling section.
- The silica/quartz heater heats the water.
- Water is converted into steam.
- Many non-volatile dissolved impurities remain in the boiling chamber.
- The generated steam passes through the glass distillation/condenser assembly.
- The vapour is cooled and converted back into liquid distilled water.
- The distilled water is collected for laboratory use.
